The Madison County Arts Council is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization serving the residents, artists and visitors of Madison County since 2002. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, it is the purpose of the Madison County Arts Council to cultivate an appreciation of the cultural arts and to encourage participation in the performing, graphic, and visual arts in the Madison County area.

Located in Madisonville, Texas, the Madison County Arts Council was formed in 2002 with a mission to provide community theatre to the area, it quickly expanded to include events and activities to support and encourage not only the performing arts, but the literary, musical, and visual arts as well. Today, several ongoing projects invite participation from the community. These include: The Madison County Community Theatre Company, The Madison County Community Chorus, The Madison County Writers Guild, The Annual Photography Contest, which takes place during the Texas Mushroom Festival every October, and an active Art in Education program, with assistance provided to the teachers of the visual, performing and literary arts in Madison County’s two school districts.

MCAC awards a $1000 scholarship each year to a graduating High School senior. Applicants must attend school in Madison County, and should have a genuine interest in the arts, (dance, theater, singing, painting, and literary arts related to artistic endeavors), and should have obviously displayed that interest. Preferably, applicants should intend to pursue said interest by a major or minor in the subject at a college or university of choice. Read more about the MCAC Scholarship.

With over one hundred members currently, the Madison County Arts Council has grown into a strong and vital organization, which continues to provide opportunities for area citizens to participate in arts related activities and to be entertained and educated by them. MCAC depends on it’s members for funding, through annual membership dues and participation in MCAC events. CLICK HERE to learn more about upcoming events.
