From time to time our fund raising efforts include the serving of prepared food. Texas state law requires that all persons involved in the preparation and serving of food have a “food handler’s card”. Fred Keefer has been in contact with the Madison County Health Inspector, Don Grooms concerning scheduling a training class to allow MCAC volunteers to obtain this required training. Mr. Grooms has graciously agreed to provide this training as a service to the MCAC at no cost to the individual or the organization. Persons interested in attending the class need to contact Fred Keefer as soon as possible to get your name on the roster. The class which will be completed in one meeting will be scheduled to accommodate as many of the volunteers’ personal schedules as possible and, of course as Mr. Grooms can work it into his busy schedule. Fred’s email address is fredkeefer@windstream.net.

Writers Guild News
The Madison County Writers Guild had a busy November meeting. They were entertained by local author Coach Johnny Carter, who talked about his new book, “The First Season.” In addition a certificate of gratitude was presented to President Emeritus M. Elizabeth (“Marianne”) Gage, who is leaving Madison County. She will be sorely missed. In Marianne’s honor, members brought refreshments, and a good time was had by all. See pictures from the evening below.
