Past Events
In it’s early years, The Madison County Arts Council has sponsored a number of events, and we’d like to share a few of the highlights of those occasions with you.
Master Texas Fiddler Comes to Madisonville
In November 2002, we were fortunate to have renowned Texas Fiddler Valerie Ryals O’Brien join us as part of a Community Residency program that was made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Texas Commission on the Arts.
The residency was sponsored in partnership between the Madison County Arts council and Texas Folklife Resources, a non-profit organization based in Austin.
In October 2005, the Arts Council brought Inca Wyra to the Texas Mushroom Festival. This fascinating South American group agreed to return again in the Spring of 2006. This time they gave an entertaining and educational presentation for the children at Madisonville Intermediate School.
In January 2005, we sponsored a number of events during our “For Love of the Arts Week”. These included:
An Art Exhibit at the Truman Kimbro Center culminating in a reception on Friday January 28.
A Book Review sponsored by the Madison County Writers Guild “Edith Ann….. My Life So Far” as told to Jane Wagner – Reviewed by Pat Jennings Click Here to see Photos.
“Opry, Madison County Style” – A variety show featuring area performers was held at the Madisonville High School Auditorium.
